Guided by global best practices, the NSIA optimises frameworks and policies that support people and the environment.
- Ranked joint first scoring 100% in the Global SWF Governance, Sustainability & Resilience (GSR) rating
- Ranked 9 out of 10 on the Linaburg – Maduell SWF transparency index from over 50 SWFs evaluated.
- Adoption of eco-friendly, waste recycling and energy-efficient solutions in line with NSIA’s commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2060.
- Employee engagement and inclusivity initiatives such as the NSIA Young Leaders Program, NSIA Female Network and ESG Week
- Continued community support, including the donation of hospital equipment worth $600,000 to 21 hospitals across the country during COVID-19 as well as support for education through the “Bottles for Books” initiative, which promotes recycling while providing educational materials to underprivileged children.

Partnerships
The Authority continues to explore and forge partnerships with sustainable ESG focused institutions and associations and works closely with the Federal Government of Nigeria to support in achieving the country’s net zero ambitions.
- NSIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Council on Climate Change to support in developing the Nigeria’sclimate change framework, carbon trading systems and driving the achievement of Nigeria’s net zero commitments.
- NSIA is a member of the Intergovernmental Committee on Nigeria Carbon Market Activation constituted by Mr. President and charged with developing Nigeria’s carbon market framework to scale up climate investments and deliver on the country’s NDCs.
- NSIA is an active member of the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Fund Initiative which seeks to accelerate the integration of climate change analysis into the management of large, long term and diversified asset portfolios.
- NSIA leads the Climate Finance and Energy Transition working group of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum (ASIF)
- NSIA works closely with relevant organisations such as the Energy Transition Office (ETO) and the Africa Carbon Market Initiative (ACMI)

It derives impetus from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and incorporates key performance metrics to track, measure and monitor performance as well as trends.
